Chaos Research is the new solo project of Marko (Gravehill) M. Hautamäki, also known from such bands as Majesty (THE doom metal act from Finland), Two Witches (THE gothic rock act from Finland/Germany), SinMasters (multi-national fetish dance-metal), ex-Shade Factory (finnish ebm-band) and Gravehill Paris Witch (experimental dark ambient from Germany/Finland/USA). He is also busy doing session appearances and remixes for various other bands.

Despite all his other musical activities Marko M Hautamäki still finds time to carry out the experimental musical journeys presented in the form of Chaos Research. "Over the years I have developed a fascination for classical music. Also, dark ambient stuff is very close to my heart. In Chaos Research I have a way to combine these genres creating something new that, strictly speaking, doesn't really belong to either of these genres", Marko says. "It's not only about (neo-)classical and ambient music, either. I like to combine different and sometimes very surprising elements from where ever; classical, ethno, rock, noise, electronics... The main idea is creating something new, not following the current trends."

Despite being a solo project Chaos Research is also doing concerts and Marko is looking for more all the time. "I try to compose as much new material for every concert as possible. Also the line-up changes. I'm able to do gigs alone but I'm also able to get session musicians improvising on stage if necessary. I'm very productive so coming up with new material is not a problem but I like the improvisational aspect as well. This way I can make every gig truly unique", says Marko M Hautamäki, the man behind Chaos Research. So everyone keep an eye fixed on this page for updates and concert information.

"Revelations" album out very soon

Full-length album version of "Revelations" will be released in early
December 2005 in Japan via Deserted Factory records. The official
homepage of the label is located at www.desertedfactory.com . It will
also be available through Chaos Research web site.

"Revelations" ep sold out!

The last copies of limited edition ep "Revelations" have now been sold
out and no more will be made. The "Revelations" saga will continue in
album form, though.

Chaos Research concert

The next concert of Chaos Research will take place in Berlin, Germany on
Saturday 3rd of December 2005. Chaos Research will be performing in
Boheme Noir II party at Pulp-Mansion (Saarbrücker Strasse 36, 10405
Berlin) together with Velma Kelly, Lucifire and Mignon. More info can be

Research concert will also be recorded for future use.

"Traveller of The Spheres" album postponed

Unfortunately the release of Chaos Research album "Traveller of the
Spheres" has been postponed to 2006. Since it was originally recorded
already almost a year ago, it will be partially remade and completely
remixed to reflect today's standards before release. Also the label to
release the album has changed. More information will follow soon.

"Revelations" ep reviewed in Darklife issue X

Chaos Research - Revelations EP (Self-released)
This is the solo project of Two Witches guitarist Marko M Hautamäki, and
just in order to avoid any misconception, it's worth mentioning upfront
that you won't find traces of the Finnish gothic veterans in Chaos
Research. Marko carries on a multitude of activities with different
projects as well and it's time now to hear him solo. The three instrumental
tracks of Revelations are rather athmospheric journeys with a chill-out
character to them, inhabiting comfortably the dark realm and offering hints
of catacombal nature. At just over 13 minutes, this can be considered more
as an intro to the project itself. The debut full length should be out as
you read this and if following the indications of the Revelations ep, it
should go well with those enjoying explorations of dark realms.

"Revelations" ep reviewed in Zillo 03/05 (in German)

Chaos research "Revelations" E.P.
War Marko Hautamäki, seines Zeichens Kopf der finnischen Doom-Metal-Band
Majesty und Gitarrist bei der Finngoth-Legende Two Witches, bislang eher
für sehr Gitarrenlastiges bekannt, geht er mit seinem neuen Projekt Chaos
Research in eine völlig andere Richtung. Ambient-Soundscapes treffen auf
orchestrale Samples, Tribal-Rhythmen auf Noise Samples, schwebende Melodien
auf akustisches Chaos... und das alles gänzlich ohne den Einsatz der sech
Seiten der Hölle. Das ist definitiv eher schwere Kost und keine Musik für
jedermann. Wer allerdings auf den Output des schwedischen Kult-Labels Cold
Meat Industry abfährt, der wird auch hier sein gefundenes Fressen finden -
schecht gemacht ist das Ganze nämlich nicht (MK)

Chaos Research is taking part on Invasion 2005

Invasion 2005 is the ultimate audio visual crossover experience happening
in Brussels, Belgium in 6.-9.10.2005

Audio artists make a minimum of 3 minute soundscape that they pass on to
the director who in turn creates a film around it, thus providing a face
for the composition. The reverse approach is that the director makes
minimum 3 minute composition from images and passes it on to a composer to
create music to. This all happens without any interaction between composer
and director; both have a carte blance to fill according to their own
judgement. The results will be seen at Invasion 2005. For more info, please

Confirmed artists for Invasion 2005 so far are: Chaos Research, Shaman,
Natan Vance, Poladroid, Amorph, The Wee DJs, Dark Vektor, Bass Kittens,
Volum, Kosmozo, Kog and DJ Zielte.

Limited edition ep "Revelations" is still available!

The first "official" release from Chaos Research is a cdr ep entitled "Revelations". The ep is strictly limited to 61 hand numbered and signed copies. The track listing is as follows:
